Welcome to the Office of Financial Aid at Jackson State University
The Office of Financial Aid at Jackson State University coordinates all financial assistance (federal, state, institutional and private) offered to students. The fundamental purposes of financial aid is to provide students access to post secondary education, choice among institutions and balance of gift and self-help aid.
Financial Aid assistance is available to help students who meet the difference between what they can afford to pay and what it will cost them to attend Jackson State University. Financial Aid is intended to supplement and not replace financial contributions from the students, parents and/or spouses. For Federal Aid purposes, the students and parents contributions are calculated based on a formula developed and updated by the United States Congress. This formula evaluates the family’s current financial circumstances in a consistent and equitable manner and produces the Expected Family Contribution (EFC).
